Quick answer

Why is my Thermador oven door locked or not heating?

A door stuck after self-clean is usually the lock motor or its switch. A cold or slow oven is usually the igniter, an element, the temperature sensor or the control board, and a dead touch panel often points to the cooling fan and board. Typical Thermador oven repairs run $250 to $1,200. The $179 diagnostic comes off the repair.

Wall Ovens in a Desert Kitchen

Many Thermador wall ovens in Summerlin and Henderson homes went in during the same build-out, stacked in a tall cabinet beside the fridge. That cabinet traps heat, and a home that sits closed up in July holds it longer. It's why we see cooling fans, lock motors and boards fail here more often than the cooking parts themselves. Knowing that pattern tells our tech where to look first.

What Usually Goes Wrong With a Thermador Oven

Door lock motor and switch. Self-clean drives the cavity far hotter than normal cooking, and the door lock holds until it cools. The lock motor and its switch live right next to that heat. When one wears out, the door stays locked long after the cycle, or the oven refuses to start because it can't confirm the lock.

Oven igniter and gas valve. On Pro Grand and Pro Harmony gas ovens, the igniter has to draw enough current before the valve opens. A weak igniter lights late or not at all. A flame that starts and then dies points to the igniter, the valve or the flame-sensing side of the control. Because these are gas parts, we price them only after a proper diagnostic.

Bake, broil and convection elements. Thermador wall ovens and dual-fuel ranges heat electrically. An element that has burned through gives the classic "one oven works, the other doesn't" or "broil only" call. Elements are priced after the diagnostic.

Cooling fan, sensor and control board. Wall ovens are boxed into cabinetry, often stacked two high, and in a Las Vegas kitchen that cabinet runs warm much of the year. The cooling fan protects the electronics. When the fan or the sensor that controls it fails, heat reaches the board. Add monsoon-season power surges and you get blank displays, ghost key presses and error codes.

Convection fan motor. The rear fan spreads heat for even baking. Years of high-heat roasting, grease and fine desert dust wear its bearings until it grinds or stalls.

Steam system scale. A Thermador steam oven boils tap water every time it cooks. Valley tap water carries a heavy mineral load, and that load stays behind as scale in the boiler, pump and lines. Frequent descale prompts, water-tank errors and weak steam are the usual result.

What Thermador Oven Repairs Typically Cost

Typical ranges, depending on the unit and the repair. These are not quotes.

  • Igniter or spark module: $250–$500
  • Convection fan motor: $350–$650
  • Gas valve / safety valve: $400–$850
  • Oven control board: $500–$1,200

Door locks and elements are priced after the diagnostic. Your exact price is set after the $179 diagnostic, and you approve it before any work starts.

Repair or replace?

Repair, nearly always. A Thermador wall oven fills a specific cutout, and a double or combination unit is wired and trimmed into its cabinet. Replacing one usually means a new unit, a cutout that may not match, and an electrician. Even a control board repair costs a fraction of that. If several major parts have failed on a very old oven, we show you the repair price and what replacement would involve, and you choose.

How the $179 diagnostic works

  1. Reserve an arrival window online or by phone.
  2. Our tech works out which part failed: lock, igniter, element, fan, sensor, board or valve.
  3. A single flat price comes to you for approval first.
  4. Approve it and the $179 is taken off the bill. Miss the confirmed window on our side and the diagnostic is free.
FAQ

Thermador Oven Repair FAQ

Are you factory authorized?

No. Tuffix Pro is an independent repair service, not affiliated with Thermador or its parent company, BSH Home Appliances.

My Thermador oven door is stuck locked after self-clean. What causes that?

Most often the door lock motor or its switch, sometimes the control board that runs them. The lock should release once the oven cools, so a door that stays locked for hours is a fault. The diagnostic finds which part.

Why does the fan keep running after my Thermador wall oven is off?

That's the cooling fan protecting the electronics. It should stop once the oven cools. If it runs on and on, a sensor or the control board is usually telling it to.

Do you repair Thermador Pro Grand and Pro Harmony range ovens?

Yes, gas and dual-fuel, including the ovens on 48" and 60" models.

Do you work on Thermador steam ovens?

Yes. Las Vegas hard water leaves scale in the steam system, and it's one of the most common faults we see on them here.

Is an older Thermador wall oven worth fixing?

Usually. A replacement has to fit the same cutout and cabinet, which adds cost fast. Most repairs, even a control board, come in well below a new wall oven.

Areas We Cover

Our Thermador oven calls come from all over the valley, and most from the stacked wall ovens of Summerlin South, Red Rock CC and The Ridges in Summerlin, and from Henderson neighborhoods like Seven Hills, Anthem, Lake Las Vegas and MacDonald Highlands. Southern Highlands (Enterprise), Spring Valley, Paradise and central Las Vegas are covered too.
